USPTA Certified Tennis Professional

Head Pro, The Priory Tennis & Swim Club, Kentfield, CA

Moses hails from the beautiful West Indies island of St. Lucia. He is a world-class athlete with more than 25 years experience as a professional tennis instructor.

Moses began his athletic career playing golf for St. Lucia’s national team. But when a summer job at his local tennis club exposed him to the game of tennis, he started playing and fell in love with the sport. He applied himself to tennis the way he’d done with golf, and after a few years was good enough to start teaching tennis to kids. Moses soon became Head Tennis Pro/Activities Director at LeSport Hotel in St. Lucia, and became ranked as one of the nation’s Top-10 tennis players.

In 1992, Gittens moved to Washington, DC and began work at East Potomac Tennis Center and also Rock Creek Park Tennis Center, where he earned his USPTA certification.

In 1996, Moses became Tennis Director for the Loudoun Sport & Health Club in Leesburg, VA where he taught and managed a 10-court indoor/outdoor facility.  For nine years, he worked with some of Loudoun County’s top juniors and also captained several USTA ladies and men’s teams.

In 2005 he became Tennis Director at historic Winchester Country Club in Winchester, VA.

But Leesburg wanted him back and from 2007-2012, he was Head Tennis Professional for the Town of Leesburg, VA.

Naturally, east coast weather is not ideal for year-round tennis, so in 2012, Moses and his wife Laraine moved to Marin County where’s he’s been teaching ever since. Moses is currently Head Tennis Pro at The Priory Tennis and Swim Club in Kentfield.

Moses' Philosophy:

Everyone who wants to play tennis should be able to play and have fun at any skill level. Players should be open to improving their skills to further their enjoyment of the game. As a coach, I believe in creating a positive environment to help build the player's character and individual personality, and they are empowered to grow and develop at their own pace. Each tennis player should have the opportunity to enjoy the game of tennis on their own terms.
